Ganadevata (With English Subtitles) is a Bengali Movie directed by Tarun Majumdar, starring Madhabi Mukherjee & Robi Ghosh. A film set in a period just before World War II, Ganadevataa deals with the plight of a few village folks struggling to come to terms with the changing trends. It is a mesh of characters that aren’t happy with some aspect of growth and are against it. Aniruddha, a blacksmith and his carpenter friend Girish are against the traditional barter system and wants change, Debu Pandit wants to bring about some change in the village and fights for a proper system to curb prejudices, Chirru Pal who wants things to be just the same so that he can keep earning megabucks, Jatin who is on house arrest for being a freedom fighter and Durga a liberal and free-spirited Prostitute.
